Here are the top stories today in Boulder:
- Phase two of the Boulder Junction project moves forward. Phase one is nearing completion of the the 160-acre area within 30th Street, Pearl Street, Valmont Road and Foothills Parkway. Phase two includes area east of the train tracks and will continue to fulfill the original vision of the area becoming a lively, mixed-use, pedestrian-oriented place. (Boulder)
- Winter Park Ski Train returns just in time for height of Colorado ski season. Why battle I-70 when you can take a train? The Ski Train takes skiers and boarders up to Winter Park every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the end of March from Union Station. (9News)
- The City and County of Boulder are buying a house to support those recovering meth addiction. Utilizing funds from the affordable housing fund and additional funds coming from the Boulder County, which has pledged $600,000 towards the purchase. (Yellow Scene)
- Closure of Golden West retirement center means families are scrambling to find housing. Golden West, a Boulder-based nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing to older adults, announced last week that it will be shutting down its assisted living facility on March 4. (Reporting Lab)
- So far, the Suncor shutdown hasn't led to big spikes gas prices or reduced air pollution levels. Well, at least not yet. It's been two weeks since Suncor Energy suspended operations at Colorado's only oil refinery after cold weather triggered malfunctions and a pair of fires. Suncor said the refinery won't be fully operational until March. (CPR)
