Sword Carrying Lurker, Road Rage: Boulder Police Blotter

Car vs. bicycle, Combative drunk woman allegedly kicks officers, knife-waving at the Safeway and more from Boulder's police annals

BOULDER, CO -- -- These incidents were reported in the Boulder Police Blotter Jan. 10-18.

Jan 18

A 52-year-old woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer after she drove into a window well in the 600 block of Pearl. During the arrest, she kicked, hit and spit at the officers.

A vehicle heading north on Foothills Pkwy. struck a bicyclist traveling east on Arapahoe in the crosswalk. The The bicyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to Boulder Community Health.

A burglary was reported around 5:39 a.m. in the 4700 block Table Mesa Drive.

Jan 16

Police responded to the Millenium Hotel, 1345 28th Street after security reported a suspicious male wandering around the property with a large sword and handgun. Officers confiscated a sword, several knives and a pellet gun. The 35-year-old man was arrested for Unlawfully Carrying a Concealed Knife.

A burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Pearl Street around 8:00 a.m.

A burglary was reported in the 3300 block of Iris Ave. around 5:50 p.m.

Jan 13

Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of 30th Street after a pedestrian reported he was walking with his son who was riding a bicycle in the area of Jiffy Lube when they became involved in an altercation with a man driving a red sedan who then attempted to hit them with his vehicle. The adult male put up his arm which was struck by the passenger side mirror of the suspect vehicle causing a minor injury to his arm. His son was unharmed. A suspect has been identified but hasn't been contacted. Police are investigating.

A burglary was reported in the 1100 block of Grandview Avenue around 10:00 p.m.

Jan. 12

A 28-year-old man was arrested for Vehicular Assault-DUI and Reckless Driving after he was driving a truck eastbound on Arapahoe, ran a red light and struck a person driving a Saturn sedan driving north on Foothills causing serious injury to the driver. The victim was transported to Boulder Community Health.

Jan 11

A 62-year-old man was arrested after a witness, who was sitting in her car in the parking lot of Lucky's Market, 695 S. Broadway, said he pointed a gun at her. No weapon was located on the man. He was charged with Felony Menacing.

Officers responded to the St. Julien Hotel, 901 Canyon to check on the welfare of an intoxicated woman. Police decided she was too intoxicated to leave the premise by herself and were attempting to place her in custody to take her to the Alcohol Recovery Center when she became combative and kicked an officer in the leg. The 56-year-old woman was arrested for Second Degree Assault on a Police Officer, Obstruction and Resisting Arrest.

Jan 10

A 36-year-old man was arrested after police received a report he was waving a knife at customers in Safeway, 2798 Arapahoe Avenue. There was a warrant for his arrest out of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office on the original offense of larceny.

A burglary was reported in the 4700 block of Walnut Street around 1:42 p.m.


These incidents represent a portion of the police calls that took place on the specified dates. Under the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, departments have discretion in releasing police incident reports. Because some reports are for alleged felonies, they are still under investigation.
