🌱Tickets For Being Homeless + Car Donated + Aspen's Ban On Riding
The quickest way to get caught up on the important things happening in Boulder today.

Good morning Boulder! Brad K. Evans here with a fresh edition of the Boulder Daily.
Tuesday's weather: Mostly cloudy. High: 50 Low: 28.
Here are the top stories in Boulder today:
- Car donated to family that lost their home, business and three cars in the Marshall Fire. The family was on a Christmas vacation when they learned the news on social media. The Marshall Fire had not only claimed their small business in Louisville, it also burned their home in Superior to the ground. (7News)
- This winter, Boulder police have been ticketing people for sleeping outside when the shelter was full. Reconciling Boulder's camping ban with the city's homelessness strategy is up for debate once again, as the city's largest shelter was turning dozens of people away when it was at capacity last December. (Reporting Lab)
- The 'Old Main Cottonwood' on the CU Boulder campus has been chopped down. After more than 140 years of life outside of the Old Main building the "Old Main Cottonwood" had become a safety hazard. Though it's gone, the tree has been cloned, and will be replanted. (CO Daily)
- Better late than never. Did you know that more than 680,000 people in Colorado have left college without earning a degree? There's an effort underway for Colorado residents that have some college credits under their belt to cross the finish line in an effort to meet the state's workforce needs. The state launched the Finish What You Started program in 2021, set up to assist people to go back to school and complete their degree.(CPR)
- It's been 20 years since snowboarders were banned on Aspen Mountain. Prior to 2001, the arguments on Aspen Mountain were that snowboarders were dangerous, and brought with it the undesirable "knuckledragger" crowd. (CO Sun)
Doing a "Dry January" or just looking for a flavorful alternative to regular cocktails? Here's a suggestion: try a non-alcoholic drink from our partners at Betera. Created by an award-winning chef from natural botanicals, Betera's drinks come in 3 flavors — Ginger-Orange, Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus. We tried Ginger-Orange, and it was excellent — lightly effervescent, floral with a hint of bitterness and the sippability of a cocktail.
Betera is offering readers of the Daily a 15% discount on their first order: use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — you can try Betera here.
