Here are the top stories today in Boulder:

  1. Boulder voters to decide when to vote: even or odd. It's been a debate for as long as I can remember whether voter turnout is better on odd years or even years. Now Boulder City Council is putting it to vote (in an even year) for voters to determine when they should vote for city council candidate elections in odd or even years. (CO Newsline)
  2. Boulder set to reopen Pearl Street's West End to cars. Boulder is reopening the west end of Pearl Street that was closed to vehicular as part of the city's COVID-19 emergency order. Some on City Council are lamenting the decision. (Yahoo!)
  3. Casey Middle School teacher involves students in science research. Three Colorado teachers were selected for the Society for Science's Advocate Program. Meet one of those selected, Erin Mayer, who teaches science at Casey Middle School. (FOX31)
  4. Bark beetles are killing trees across the Denver metro. First it was a drought that was killing off the tree canopy, now it's the bugs. There's a major outbreak happening, and the beetles are attacking spruce and Austrian pine trees. (9News)
  5. Cooler weather and heavy rains coming. Today and tomorrow the forecast calls for a change of weather to the front range from hot to cool and wet. Expect heavy rain and high temperatures in the 50s. (FOX31)
