  1. Crews quickly contain wildfire in Carriage Hills north of Boulder. Boulder County crews contained a small wildfire that was reported at 10:24 p.m. on Thursday. Emergency responders raced to the scene and were fighting a quarter-acre fire in a wooded and mountainous area, and at the same time, dealing with sustained winds of 25 to 50 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph. The cause of the fire is under investigation. (Yahoo!)
  2. High level of COVID-19 community transmission in Boulder County. Boulder County Public Health Department announced that COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have increased from medium to high levels.The CDC data shows about 130 out of 100,000 people have COVID-19 in the county, and 5 percent of the county hospital beds are filled with patients that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last seven days.   3. Boulder Turnpike is a metaphor for how the relationship between Boulder and Denver has transformed. U.S. 36 from Boulder to Denver was originally built as a toll road, and turned out to be was more popular than anticipated, as bonds used to build it were paid off in 1967, 13 years early. (BizWest)
