Winter Storm Watch Issued For Boulder

BOULDER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued weather alerts for the metro Denver area and Boulder. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued from 12 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday.

Up to eight inches of snow is expected to fall from Sunday afternoon through Monday evening, weather officials said. Freezing drizzle overnight Sunday could create dangerous roads.

"Travel could become very difficult," the alert read. "The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute times. Hazardous road conditions are expected to develop with the worst conditions Sunday night into Monday morning."

The agency urged drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling.

"Precipitation will switch to snow by mid-morning Sunday with generally light snow through the day. Snow may become heavy at times in the mountains by Sunday afternoon, and spread across the region Sunday night into Monday morning, before tapering off by Monday afternoon."

The following areas were listed in the weather advisory: Fort Collins, Hereford, Loveland, Nunn, Arvada, Boulder, Golden, Lakewood, Longmont, Aurora, Brighton, City of Denver, Denver International Airport, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Parker, Castle Rock, Elbert, Fondis, Kiowa, Larkspur, Briggsdale, Grover, Pawnee Buttes, Raymer, Stoneham, Eaton, Fort Lupton, Greeley, Roggen, Brush, Fort Morgan, Goodrich, Wiggins, Bennett, Byers, Deer Trail, Leader, Agate, Hugo, Limon and Matheson.
