Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Boulder

BOULDER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued weather alerts for the metro Denver area and Boulder. A freeze warning has been issued until 9 a.m. today and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued until 3 p.m.

Traffic has slowed throughout the Front Range and I-25 Urban Corridor as vehicles face freezing drizzle and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Colorado State Patrol has closed CO 119 Boulder Canyon until further notice after black ice caused multiple accidents.

"While warm ground temperatures will reduce the impact of the snow,
it will be cold enough for icy roads in some areas. This will be
especially true on bridges and during the time the heaviest snow
is falling," the alert read. "Be prepared for variable conditions and leave some extra space in case the road is slicker than you think it is."

National Weather Service urged drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling.

"An area of snow will move from the Front Range mountains over the
Denver area this morning and the eastern plains during the middle
of the day," the alert read. "Most places will get an inch or two of snow, though a few spots may get more. This is most likely in the foothills west
and southwest of Denver."
