Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Metro Denver, Boulder

The National Weather Service has issued two weather alerts for Denver's metro area and Boulder.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect until 11 a.m. Sunday, and a wind chill advisory will be in effect until 11 a.m. Monday.

Up to 6 inches of snow could fall in some regions, and wind chills could reach as low as minus 25 weather officials said.

"Plan on slippery road conditions," the alert read. "Roads will likely become slick and hazardous. Slow down and use caution while traveling."

Weather officials are asking people to make sure they have extra warm clothing and food in their vehicles if they're heading into the mountains.

"The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes," the wind chill advisory read. "Frostbite and hypothermia are possible if precautions are not taken."
