Broomfield Bank Robbery Puts Nearby Schools On Lock Out

Broomfield police asked six local schools to go on "lock-out" after a Chase Bank was robbed Thursday morning.

BROOMFIELD, CO - Broomfield police asked six local schools to go on "lock-out" after a Chase Bank was robbed Thursday morning around 9:40 a.m. in the 4800 Block of W. 121st Ave. The male robber displayed an unspecified weapon during the robbery, according to Joleen Reefe, a police spokeswoman. No arrests have been made. Reefe said she did not have a description of the robber, but a description of a "male with a dark-colored hoodie" was reported in the Broomfield Enterprise.

Neighboring schools were asked to take lock-out security precautions, Reefe said. These included Adams 12 Five Star schools Centennial Elementary, Legacy High School, Mountain View Elementary and Westlake Middle School. Private preschools Cross of Christ Lutheran and La Petite Academy were also given notice.

Front Range Community College in Westminster also on lock-out status, according to the Enterprise.

All schools have resumed normal operations.

The case has been turned over to the FBI's Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, which is expected to release more information about the robbery.
