Broomfield Police Stepping Up Patrols Until July 4
The Broomfield Police Department and North Metro Fire Rescue District are working together to address community concerns.

BROOMFIELD, CO — Fourth of July is fast approaching, and the Broomfield Police Department will be stepping up patrols over the next week to enforce fireworks safety and keep local streets safe.
According to Broomfield Municipal Code Chapter 9-76, most fireworks are illegal within the City and County of Broomfield.
"If an item produces a visual or auditory sensation by burning or exploding, it's illegal," Broomfield police said in a social media post.

Additional police personnel will be on the streets from June 28 to July 4, BPD said. Anyone caught using illegal fireworks will have their fireworks confiscated and they may be ticketed. Violations of the City and County of Broomfield fireworks ordinance can result in a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to one year in jail.
Those who love a good fireworks show can head to the Great American Picnic at Broomfield County Commons Park. Activities will begin at 5 p.m., and fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
