Broomfield Police Thank Commuters After US 36 Delays
Broomfield police posted a photo that shows the extent of the damage on U.S. 36.

BROOMFIELD, CO — The Broomfield Police Department is thanking commuters for their patience as repair work continues on the eastbound lanes of U.S. 36 near Church Ranch Road. Wet soil under the highway caused a slope failure Friday and the highway split open, officials said.
"Thank you for your patience this morning during the work commute," Broomfield police posted on social media.
The department also posted a photo that shows how deep the crack runs. By Monday, the crack grew to more than 300 feet long and 60 feet wide, CDOT officials said.
