Celebration Of Life Planned For Cmdr. Dale Sarno

Broomfield police, community members and family will gather June 19 to remember retired police Cmdr. Dale Sarno.

BROOMFIELD, CO — A celebration of life will be held this week for retired Broomfield Police Department Commander Dale Sarno, who passed away May 30 after battling cancer. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at the Chateau at Fox Meadows, 13600 Xavier Lane.

Sarno's successful career with the police department spanned nearly four decades, and he earned more than 75 commendations for his service. He was hired in 1978 as a patrol officer, and worked his way up the ranks, eventually being promoted to commander.

In a tribute to Sarno, the Broomfield Police Department said he was an exemplary leader.

"It would be impossible to determine how many officers' careers were enhanced because of Commander Sarno's mentoring and leadership. His family, the community, and the men and women of the Broomfield Police Department will miss him greatly."

The Celebration of Life for Commander Sarno will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
