Fugitives Nabbed By Broomfield Cops And U.S. Marshals
After a nine-day manhunt, Broomfield police helped U.S. Marshals arrest two fugitives wanted in Nebraska.

BROOMFIELD, CO -- U.S. Marshals, searching for fugitives in a nine-day manhunt from a crime spree in Duel Co., Nebraska, located Elijah Dunning, 21, and Justine Day, 26, in Broomfield and made an arrest Wednesday with help from the Broomfield Police Dept., the U.S. Marshals announced. The chase began Oct. 31, when Nebraska State Troopers tried to pull over a stolen Dodge Ram pickup truck in Deuel Co. After a high-speed chase, the driver crashed into a cable barrier and then fled on foot. Troopers found stolen identity documents, illegal drugs, and a stolen handgun in the Ram. Police issued a warrant for Dunning, originally from Commerce City, who fled the state. Dunning was wanted for several counts, including possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of methamphetamine, and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.
Colorado law enforcement agencies confirmed that Dunning was with Justine Day, who was also wanted in multiple Colorado jurisdictions for charges including vehicle theft and fraud. The two were connected to a string of car thefts, larcenies and fraud in metro Denver, a statement said.
Broomfield police and US Marshals located Dunning and Day in the 5100 block of West 120th Avenue and took them into custody in a stolen vehicle near 120th and Sheridan in Broomfield. Inside the car was stolen property and a gun, police said.
