Woman Attacked, Stabbed On Broomfield Walking Path: Police
UPDATE: Donald Lee McMillian, 43, of South Carolina, was arrested after an attack on a woman near the tunnel at Highland Park Drive.

BROOMFIELD, CO -- Police took Donald Lee McMillian, 43, of South Carolina, into custody in connection with the attack of an elderly woman on a Broomfield walking path Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m. a report came in to police that a witness had seen a man attacking a woman on the walking path east of the tunnel at Highland Park Drive and Sheridan Boulevard (approximately the 12400 block of Sheridan). An arrest affidavit alleges McMillian, who was working as a door-to-door salesman in the area, approached a 79-year-old woman from behind and stabbed her.
According to the arrest affidavit, McMillian allegedly commented on the woman's dog, then grabbed her around the neck and said, "Don't move or I'll kill you." He allegedly stabbed her multiple times.

A witness saw the attack and saw McMillian allegedly on top of the victim with his pants down. Officers found McMillan, wearing the clothing described, in the 900 block of East Midway. McMillian, was booked into the Broomfield Detention Center and is being held for pending assault charges and crimes against an at-risk adult, with a $300,000 bond.
The woman was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

At around 8:10 p.m. police said they took the suspect to a local hospital for "undetermined medical concerns."
This investigation is ongoing, police said.

The Broomfield Police Department would like to acknowledge the great work that came together to capture this suspect. The first 9-1-1 call made by the initial witness that was diligent in taking action to help someone in distress, while providing details of what she observed. The description of the suspect was aired to responding officers who were able to act quickly and apprehend the suspect.
Police said in a statement on Facebook that they believe "this is an isolated incident and unusual for our community."
