The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Colorado Springs.
Get on up, Colorado Springs! Here's everything you need to know to get this Saturday started off right.
First, today's weather:
Sunshine and patchy clouds. High: 78 Low: 49.
Here are the top three stories in Colorado Springs today:
- The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) saw a nearly 150 percent increase of travelers in February compared to the same time last year. Airport officials expect even more flyers this month due to spring break, with continued high rates of travel through the summer. As travel increases, COS reminds passengers to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled flight, as well as to comply with the federal mask mandate for air travel that's been extended through Apr. 18. (KKTV)
- An officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department is on paid administrative leave, despite allegations of threatening to kill a 15-year-old. Shane Reed, who was arrested on second-degree kidnapping as well as child abuse, will remain on paid leave until he is formally charged. Reed's attorneys have reportedly advised him not to comment on the matter. (KRDO)
- On Thursday, a Colorado Springs nonprofit partnered with an area pizza parlor to raise funds for service dogs. Victory Service Dogs (VSD) Inc. partnered with Parry's Pizzeria and Taphouse to donate 20 percent of all orders to the organization. VSD provides service dogs to veterans and first responders with PTSD and other disabilities; the program was recently extended to include children with seizures, autism, and other conditions. (KRDO)
