The 1871st tree in the COS 150: Tree Challenge has been planted and tracked by Brad Towne. He gave us permission to use this photo of his new sycamore on social media. The Townes’ family actually planted two trees, but this is #1871. They chose a sycamore because it was a favorite of Brad’s grandfather who had a sycamore in his yard in Maryland. It is also on the recommended tree list for Colorado. Of course, 1871 is significant because that’s the year of our city’s founding.
When you are making plans to plant your tree, “Be Like Brad” and visit ColoradoSprings.gov/PlantTree! You'll find resources to make sure you’re planting the right tree in the right place and also offers important tree care tips. AND – if you planted a tree this year, be sure to add it to ColoradoSprings.gov/Tree150.
