9 Cars Set Ablaze In Colorado Springs Arson Spree

Springs Police are searching for persons who tried to set cars on fire in two locations and ignited a convenience store gas pump Nov. 21

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Colorado Springs police and fire departments spent the early morning Nov. 21 investigating a string of vehicle arsons. Around 1:40 a.m., police were summoned to the 2900 block of Tremont Street, where they found two cars on fire. They discovered four other vehicles where gas tanks had been tampered with and attempts were made by someone to set the cars on fire as well, according to a statement released by police.

Later in the morning, around 4:04 a.m., police were dispatched to another vehicle fire near the intersections of Cragmor and Mallow Roads. Officers found another car with a gas tank that had been tampered with in a similar way to the Tremont Street cars.

At 4:13, officers were summoned to a gas station in the 2100 block of Templeton Gap Road after someone lit a gas pump on fire.

"At this time we have a total of 9 cars," a Colorado Springs Police statement said. "Three cars totaled by fire, and attempts were made to ignite the other six. In addition, we have an attempt on a gas pump at a convenience store. This continues to be an active criminal investigation with CSFD and CSPD."
