Colorado Springs Utilities Provides Update on Transmission Projects (publicpower.org) — Colorado Springs Utilities is moving ahead with major transmission line projects linking key substations from Kelker to the former Martin Drake site and across the city's southeast side. These $93 million upgrades, funded through 2024–2029 base rates, aim to harden the grid, improve reliability, and reduce wildfire and severe-weather risks for local customers.
2. Meet Monshew! The HSPPR Pet of the week (krdo.com) — Colorado Springs animal lovers can meet Monshew, a playful 2-year-old pit bull mix available for adoption at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region on Abbot Lane. With a $200 adoption fee covering vaccinations, microchip, neutering, and a vet exam voucher, he's ready for an active family willing to continue his training and enjoy his goofy energy.
3. Officers assaulted in separate incidents on Sunday: Colorado Springs police (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs residents should know that two police officers suffered minor injuries Sunday in separate assaults, one near Space Center Drive and another on West Garden of the Gods Road. Suspects in each case were arrested and face multiple assault charges, while the officers remained on duty after being treated.
4. Colorado Springs UFC fighter Elijah 'Swift' Smith prepares for return to Octagon (kktv.com) — A Colorado Springs-born UFC bantamweight, Elijah "Swift" Smith, is returning from hand surgery for a key Nov. 7 fight while proudly representing southeast Colorado Springs and Sierra High School. He's balancing new fatherhood, contract pressure, and rehab, all while mentoring local wrestlers and hoping to one day compete in front of a hometown crowd in Colorado.
