Arm Biting, Homeless Man Murdered: Colo. Springs Police Blotter
Two men were arrested in connection with a homicide in Shooks Run Park, a juvenile porch pirate was nabbed, Family Dollar Store was robbed.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- The following items appeared in the Colorado Springs police blotter between Dec. 7-15, 2017. Any person arrested is not guilty until proved so in a court of law.
Dec. 8:
Domestic Stabbing CSPD was dispatched to a stabbing at a residence in the 1800 block of Chapel Hills Dr. The preliminary investigation revealed that two forty year old brothers that live with their mom engaged in a fight which resulted in one of the brothers stabbing the other with a steak knife in the rib cage. Both brothers were transported to local hospitals where they were treated and released for their injuries. Roy Kauhaahaa was arrested for second degree assault for stabbing his brother. This is an ongoing investigation.

Armed Robbery At 7:16 PM Stetson Hills officers were dispatched to the Subway Sandwich shop located in the 3400 block of North Academy Blvd for a robbery. The initial investigation revealed that one male suspect entered the location and brandished a firearm while demanding cash from the clerk. The suspect appeared to be a white male with a medium build and he was wearing a gray hoodie, a blue mask and dark sunglasses. The suspect left the store and fled to the west with an undetermined amount of cash. There were other customers in the store, but no injuries were reported. A K-9 track was conducted with negative results. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Accident: Officers were dispatched to the area of Hancock Expressway and Circle Drive for a traffic accident. A single vehicle was eastbound on Hancock Expressway when it veered off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. As a result, there was a small grass fire and power was knocked out in the area. Alcohol was considered to be a factor in the accident. Hancock Expressway was briefly closed in both directions.

Dec. 9
Auto theft arrest At 7:15 a.m., officers from the Sand Creek Division became aware of a stolen vehicle in front of a residence on Mallard Dr. Information was also obtained that wanted parties were believed to be inside. Officers established surveillance on the vehicle and building. Contact was made with a male seen leaving the area. He was identified as Aaron Adamson. Further investigation identified him as a suspect in the motor vehicle theft. While officers were on scene investigating the motor vehicle theft, another wanted party, identified as Adam Zwetzig, exited the building and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short distance away. When officers went to make contact at the apartment, another wanted party, identified as Nicholas Didio, was found to have barricaded himself inside. Officers made verbal contact with suspect and he surrendered a short time later. Didio is a convicted felon and was found in possession of a firearm.
Shooting At 12:15 p.m., officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the report of a shooting that occurred near Saratoga Dr. and Carmel Circle. Information received was that multiple people had been shot and that suspects were seen running from the area. A short time later another call was received that two gunshot victims arrived at a house in the 2900 block of Pinnacle Dr. Follow-up investigation conducted at both locations revealed that one of the two gunshot victims, identified as Corwin Harvison, allegedly shot himself and the 2nd occupant of the vehicle. Harvison was found to be a convicted felon. He was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault and Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender.
Dec. 10
Drive-by Shooting At 3 a.m., CSPD officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Hancock Expressway and S. Circle Drive. Investigation revealed that three adults were stopped in their vehicle when an unknown suspect pulled up alongside them in a dark SUV and fired multiple gunshots at them. Two of the three occupants of the victim vehicle were struck and sustained minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
Juvenile Porch Pirate During the past few weeks, the Colorado Springs Police Department has been advised of several "Porch Pirate" thefts. These are thefts where victims have packages delivered to their homes and then the parcels are stolen. On 12-10-17, "Porch Pirate" thefts were reported in the north east Banning Lewis Ranch neighborhood. With the help of local media coverage and other investigation, a juvenile male suspect was identified very quickly. The suspect has been charged with one count of misdemeanor theft. Other suspects are still being investigated. As a reminder, when citizens are having packages delivered, please be sure someone is home to personally receive it or have it delivered to an alternate safe location. It is never safe to have packages left on a front porch.
Dec. 11
Man injured by train At 8:17 p.m., the CSPD Communication’s Section received a call regarding a person who had reportedly been struck by a moving train at the railroad approximately 70 yards south of Colorado Avenue. A 31-year-old male was transported to a local hospital and treated for traumatic injuries that were ultimately determined to be non-life threatening.
Dec. 13
Jaywalker struck by auto At 8:00 p.m., Stetson Hills patrol units were dispatched to the 2600 block of N. Powers Blvd. to investigate an auto vs. pedestrian accident. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian ran eastbound across Powers Blvd approximately 100’ yards south of the intersection of Constitution Ave. when he was struck by a 2010 Toyota sedan, which was going northbound in the right lane. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and is in stable non-critical condition. The driver of the Toyota was not injured. Drugs or alcohol were not suspected for the driver who was not cited in the accident. The pedestrian will be issued a traffic citation for crossing the highway outside the crosswalk.
Armed robbery at Dollar Store At 7:36 p.m., CSPD officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar Store, 4440 Edison Ave., regarding an armed robbery. The lone robber entered the store, aimed a handgun at the clerk, demanded cash, then unsuccessfully attempted to take the cash drawer. Then, he removed the cash from the register and fled on foot to the east of the store.
Dec. 14
Resisting arrest, allegedly biting officer At 7:50 a.m., Ms. Jane Blount, a 28 year old female was arrested for Obstructing a Peace Officer and an unrelated warrant from a call for service originating in the 600 block of W. Garden of the Gods Rd. During the follow up investigation Ms. Blount allegedly became non-compliant and while being restrained allegedly chose to bite an officer on the arm. The officer received medical treatment for the injury and remained on duty. Ms. Blount was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for the unrelated warrant, Obstruction, and 2nd Degree Assault of a Peace Officer.
Arrest at hotel CSPD officers responded to a hotel in the 2100 block of Aerotech Drive where they located a male suspect who was wanted for several charges, including alleged attempted 1st degree murder. Richard Torres, 28 allegedly refused to exit his hotel room, so the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) and K9 units responded to assist. After a brief standoff, the male exited his room and was taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident.
Homicide arrest in Shooks Run case Detectives from the CSPD Homicide Unit, Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) and the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) arrested Kenneth Alexander Palmer, 25, and Earnest Marcel Mims, 41, both residents of Colorado Springs, for the December 3, 2017 alleged first degree murder of 50-year-old Eugene Henrey Wildeman. Both suspects were located in a large tent camp along Fountain Creek near Dorchester Park. This continues to be an active investigation.
