The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Colorado Springs.

Good day, people of Colorado Springs! It's me again, Danielle Fallon, your host of the Colorado Springs Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and warmer. High: 68 Low: 33.

Here are the top three stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. The City of Colorado Springs has issued a series of burn restrictions with a maximum penalty of $2,500 and some jail time. The restrictions are the result of recent brush fires in the state and the ongoing dry conditions. The burn order will go into effect until it is rescinded by El Paso County. (KKTV)
  2. The Colorado Springs Police Department has provided the public with an update on an ongoing murder investigation on Wednesday. The department began the investigation on Mar. 30 after Daxcimo Ceja, 48-years-old, was reportedly murdered. The department has arrested Deka Simmons with a court appearance scheduled for Apr. 18. (KKTV)
  3. Newly released Colorado Springs' sales tax revenue data shows that consumer spending remains steady. The 2 percent sales tax generated $15.9 million for the city in March. The majority of the revenue was generated by the building materials, restaurant, and hotel industries. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
