This open mic welcomes any writer of any level and also welcomes any of the performative arts! We would love it if you came and read / performed your work with us -- each month of the open mic is on a certain theme, a theme we vote on each month. Each participant&nbsp;is allowed up to seven minutes, but you do not have to take up the full seven minutes of course. All are welcome to attend as well, you do not need to read in order to come, we love&nbsp;our crowd participants just as much :) We do our open mic each month, typically on the third Friday of the month.&nbsp;
If you want to perform you will sign up at the start of the event! Once you walk into the main gallery of Cottonwood you will see a sign up table.&nbsp;

Additional Information Public transportation options are available nearby. Not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health. Travelers should have a moderate level of physical fitness. Hot Air Balloon Flights occur outdoors and involve transportation by van or 4-wheel drive vehicle. Riders must wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, dress in layers for cooler temperatures at sunrise, be steady on their feet with no recent injuries, and sign waivers. Hand-held cameras, binoculars, and closable water bottles are permitted. There are no bathrooms in the field. All balloon flights depend on weather conditions for safety. If conditions are not suitable, flights may be rescheduled or refunded in full. Riders should stay alert for early morning updates from the pilot or crew chief. Riders canceling within 24 hours of departure or failing to show are not eligible for refunds. A minimum of 2 people is required for the activity to proceed. Tours depart on time; late guests will miss the tour without a refund. Guests maximum weight limit is 225 LBS, without special considerations.

Daiko Abe directs comprehensive, data‑driven programming designed to reduce community risk and positively change behavior through education and intervention. His team integrates fire safety, injury prevention, systems engineering, fire code application, emergency preparedness, fire operations pre‑planning, access to community resources, and individualized training.
Daiko brings extensive real‑world experience in disaster and crisis operations. He has supported multi‑jurisdictional response and recovery for major flooding, hurricanes, and tornadoes, as well as COVID‑19 response efforts. His technical portfolio includes community preparedness studies; risk and vulnerability assessments; hazard mitigation planning; and development of wildfire mitigation strategies, wildfire risk assessments, and Community Wildfire Protection Plans.
