🌱 Carport Ordinance + COVID Treatment No Longer By Referral

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Colorado Springs.

Good morning, neighbors! Rachel Kilimnik here with the latest issue of the Colorado Springs Daily.

First, today's weather:

A bit of snow and rain. High: 44 Low: 21.

Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. The Colorado Springs City Council is expected to vote this afternoon on a proposed ordinance regulating carports in neighborhoods. The proposal has been revised several times but the latest version seems agreeable to many carport owners who have contributed with city staff in the decision-making process. Carports became a controversy late last year, and in January the council enacted a moratorium on citations and appeals until the matter is resolved. (KRDO)
  2. El Paso County began monoclonal antibody treatment in early November, but by doctor referral only. But on Friday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment amended Public Health Order 21-02, which means any qualifying person can now schedule an appointment themselves. (KKTV 11 News)
  3. Keep an eye out for something shiny when you're out and about in Colorado Springs, and you might just find yourself with an early Christmas gift. A local resident who calls themselves the "Ugly Sweater Elf" is on a mission to "make a difference in our great community and beyond," and they're leaving gifts in random spots around town. (KRDO)
