The latest from Colorado Springs, delivered straight to your inbox.

Hey, people of Colorado Springs! It's me again, Rachel Kilimnik, your host of the Colorado Springs Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and mild. High: 69 Low: 38.

Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. After serving for 13 years, City Council President Pro Tem Richard Skorman decided to formally resign on Nov. 5 for personal resons. The COVID-19 pandemic hit many businesses hard, and Skorman's business was no different. In fact, he said he originally wanted to resign because he wanted to be more involved in his businesses. Overall, though, Skorman said he was happy with the changes that the city had seen since he had been on the City Council. (FOX21News.com)
  2. The impending removal of two Ward Lockwood murals has sparked controversy at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. Painted in 1935 and revealed during the FAC's grand opening in 1936, the art deco-style works will be taken down due to racist imagery and damage accumulated from their location in a food service area. The timeline for removal is unknown, but depends on a timeline from a conservator, said FAC's Director of Visual Arts and Museum Michael Christiano. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
  3. No one was hurt at a Colorado Springs Waffle House overnight, despite someone firing several gunshots into the building. (KKTV 11 News)
  4. A Colorado Springs couple who adopted seven children they were fostering will be honored Monday for their dedicated work in the field, one of five families statewide being recognized this year during November's National Adoption Month. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
  5. The warm weather this weekend almost surpassed the record highs for November in Colorado Springs. (KOAA.com Colorado Springs and Pueblo News)
