Co. Springs School Shooting: 2 Students Injured Near Doherty HS

Two high school students suffered non-life threatening injuries in a shooting across the street from Doherty HS. Schools on lockdown

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Two students were reported as having non-life threatening injuries after a shooting across the street from Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs around 12:40 p.m. Thursday. Colo. Springs SD 11 announced the high school was on a "stay in place" lockdown, as were three other schools: Carver Elementary, Keller Elementary and Russell Middle School.

The school reported that the victims' parents had been notified, but neither police, nor the school, identified the students. KKTV reported a school resource officer was staying beside the student who had been shot while awaiting emergency responders.

Police said they did not have the identity of the shooter.

The school was asking students who had left campus for lunch to remain where they were. Also the school district asked parents not to pick up their children from Doherty.
