Colorado Springs Officer 'Gravely Wounded' In Shootout
Officer Cem Duzel, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. A man who allegedly shot at officers was also injured.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A Colorado Springs police officer remains in serious condition at a local hospital after being shot in an exchange of gunfire early Thursday morning. A man who allegedly shot at officers was also injured and remains in a hospital.
Officers responded around 2:45 a.m. to the 2300 block of East Boulder Street to reports of guns shots fired, the El Paso Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
An adult man, later identified as Karrar Noaman Al Khammasi, 31, was standing in the street. Officers observed that he had a handgun and a shootout took place between officers and Al Khammasi, the sheriff's office said.

An officer was "gravely wounded," and Al Khammasi received a non-life-threatening injury.
The officer was identified as Cem Duzel, age not given, a five-year veteran of the CSPD.

The El Paso Sheriff's office will be in charge of the investigation,a s they are with any officer-involved shooting with the CSPD.
