Colorado Springs Public Art At Home Challenge

The Colorado Springs Public Art Commission is issuing a fun and creative challenge to residents: Create your own “public” art to share with your neighbors and the greater community.

The challenge is to create art or performances that can be seen from the street by pedestrians, or those driving by. Examples include, chalk art, theatrical or musical performances, window art, signs of inspiration, painted rocks, creative décor, yard sculptures, light shows, and yarn art.

The Public Art Commission encourages those participating to showcase their art on the “First Saturday” of each month starting in August. Dates include: August 1, September 5, October 3, November 7, and December 5.

Community artists are encouraged to share their Public Art at Home creative process and finished artwork on social media by using the hashtag, #cospublicartathome.

The Public Art Commission was established in 1982 by the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County. The Commission is charged with acting in an advisory capacity to evaluate, advocate, stimulate and facilitate matters of public art and culture.
