Community Meeting Postponed For Smith Creek In Colorado Springs

The community meeting to discuss the Smith Creek Natural Area stewardship plan scheduled for March 5 has been postponed.

The community meeting to discuss the Smith Creek Natural Area stewardship plan scheduled for March 5 has been postponed. Updated meeting details will be announced at a future date. The postponement will allow the city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department more time to facilitate an ongoing discussion with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service pertaining to the presence of the Preble’s meadow jumping mouse, which is on the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife.

At this time, the parks department is collecting public input through an online survey available on the project page: www.coloradosprings.gov/smithcreek.
