Decomposed Body Found In Colorado Springs Wetlands

Colorado Springs police recovered a decomposed body in a marshy area along Fountain Creek Wednesday.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Colorado Springs police said they recovered a "severely decomposed" body in a wetland area near Fountain Creek Wednesday. The Violent Crimes Section searched for the body southeast of Las Vegas Street and Tejon Street, based on a tip, police said in a statement.

Homicide detectives and members of the Metro Crime Lab Crime Scene Investigators recovered the body.

The identity and cause of death are unknown, police said. The investigation is still in early stages.
