Elbert Co. Taser Death: Veteran, 46, Died In Elizabeth
Elbert Co. sheriff's office identified the man who died after being stunned by a Taser while deputies tried to take him into custody.

ELIZABETH, CO -- A man who died after being shocked with a Taser by Elbert County sheriff's deputies was identified by the Elbert County Coroner. Christopher "Matt" Poer, 46, was unresponsive after a deputy deployed a Taser while trying to take him into custody around 8 p.m. April 12 in a rural area in the 4500 block of Private Road 188. Poer had a gun, authorities said. No cause of death was given.
The 18th Judicial District Critical Response Team said it appeared no deputy had fired a gun during the arrest.
Poer, originally from New Castle, Indiana was a resident of Boston, according to an obituary. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring with an honorable discharge in 2015.
