Escaped Colo. Inmate: Clothing Found On Riverbank

Authorities don't know what Michael Onorato is wearing, now that his prison garb was found ditched in the wilderness.

CANON CITY, CO -- UPDATE: Authorities are continuing the search for escaped inmate Michael Onorato, 37, who slipped out of a minimum security facility near Canon City early Tuesday morning.

Law enforcement officers searching for Onorato found his prison garb "on a riverbank in Florence, Colorado," a statement from the CDOC said. "It is unknown what [Onorato] is wearing at this time," the statement said.

Agencies searching for Onorato include investigators from the Colorado Dept. of Corrections fugitive division and local agencies.

Michael Onorato was missing at the 3 a.m. inmate count at the minimum-security Four Mile Correctional Center Tuesday morning. Onorato was at work on an outside work crew at the cow dairy when he went missing, a statement from the CDOC said.

Onorato is currently serving concurrent sentences for Larimer County six- and three-year convictions for motor vehicle theft and robbery respectively, and a 20-month Denver County conviction for drug abuse.
The CDOC released a photo of Onorato, but said he had grown out his hair and now had facial hair. He was described as 5'4" tall and weighing 144 pounds. Onorato has brown hair and brown eyes and may have facial hair. He has tattoos on both arms, legs, CDOC said.

Now he may be unclothed as well.

The Colorado State Patrol classified Onorato as "dangerous" in a Tweet.

Anyone with information should call the Colorado Department of Corrections Fugitive Tips line (866) 873-6305, the command center at (719) 226-4001 or local law enforcement, CDOC said in a statement.
