Neighborhood Blocked Off Near Ft. Carson Grass Fire
A grass fire that started on Fort Carson property has spread and burned several El Paso County structures, officials said.

PUEBLO, CO -- A grass fire that destroyed several homes near Fort Carson continued to spread Friday. Evacuations were ordered in the area bounded by Donner Pass View to the south, County Line Road to the east, I-25 to the west and Fort Carson Route 1 to the north (see map below from El Paso Sheriff's office.)
The fire, which started in the southeastern portion of Fort Carson’s training area, consumed around 2,100 acres in Pueblo and El Paso counties, a statement from the Pueblo County Sheriff said.
Approximately 100 Pueblo County residents living in the Midway Ranch area were evacuated, and some from El Paso County as well.

An evacuation center was set up for residents at Fountain Valley Baptist Church at 500 W. Alabama Ave. in Fountain.
As of Friday afternoon, structures had been burned in El Paso County, but none in Pueblo County, authorities said.

Large animals from evacuated households were sheltered at Colorado State Fairgrounds, Pueblo authorities said. Livestock owners should enter at Gate 6 off Small Avenue. Smaller pets were being accepted at Pueblo Animal Services, 4600 Eagleridge Blvd.
