Fort Carson Fire: Illegal Pot Grow Uncovered During Evacuation
More than 100 illegal marijuana plants were seized by El Paso Co. Sheriff's deputies at an illegal grow in evacuated neighborhood.

PUEBLO, CO -- Police and firefighters working to contain the 3,000-acre grass fire near Fort Carson Saturday encountered a large illegal marijuana cultivation operation in the 7900 block of Alaya Way, El Paso Sheriff's officers said.
With a warrant around 6 p.m., members of Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence (VNI) and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Rural Enforcement Outreach Unit (REO) searched the property. They found more than 100 illegal marijuana plants, most in the flowering stage and ready for harvest, a statement from the sheriff's office said. No arrests were made. The investigation is open and ongoing.
