COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Slain El Paso County Sheriff's detective Micah Flick was celebrated with a "life service" Saturday at New Life Church, 11025 Vayager Parkway in Colorado Springs.
The crowd in the church's sanctuary was a sea of uniforms as representatives from law enforcement agencies across the state, and even out-of-state, arrived to pay their respects. Eight days earlier, many had attended the funeral service of slain Adams County Sheriff's Deputy Heath Gumm, in Lafayette.
Flick, 34, was killed in the line of duty, Monday, on the 11th anniversary of his joining the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. He was shot during an attempted arrest of a suspected car thief. Three other law enforcement officers and a civilian bystander were wounded in the shootout. The suspect, Manuel Zetina, 19, of Colorado Springs, was killed.

Flick is survived by his wife Rachael and his seven-year-old twins, Eliana and Levi, according to Flick's obituary. "[Flick] could be counted on for a solid handshake, a genuine conversation, a corny joke and a his personal, humorous take on the latest hit pop song," the obituary said. Flick graduated from Colorado Springs Christian School in 2002 with honors where he was an athlete. He is also survived by his parents Tim and Chenoa Flick, his three siblings and their spouses: Chantelle Flick Sharketti (Kalani) and their children Kawika and Kainoa, Brynden Flick (Rachel), and Cierra Flick Brown (Chris).
Hours after Flick's death, law enforcement officers from across the state created a six-mile procession transporting his body from the hospital to the coroner's office. Residents of Colorado Springs lined the streets waving flags.

El Paso Sheriff Bill Elder remembered Flick's big appetite for pizza and his support of other officers during the police academy. Speaking to Flick's children he said, "you have inherited thousands of parents in blue who will take care of you... Making a difference and treating people right made Micah happy."
Gov. John Hickenlooper also spoke. "Micah was far too young with a long future ahead of him. But he gave more than a lifetime to his church, to his family to his community and to his state." Hickenlooper said he lost his own father at around the same age as Flick's children. "Your father will always be with you," he told the children.
Flick was the third Colorado deputy killed in the line of duty in about a month.
Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Zackari Parrish was killed in an ambush in Highlands Ranch on Dec. 31.
