Colorado Springs Police Blotter: Woman shot in the face, home invader demands cell phone.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- The following items were taken from the Colorado Springs Police Blotter between Feb. 17-23. These items represent a portion of all the incidents investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department, and anyone named in these records has not been proven guilty in a court of law.
Feb. 23 Fleeing man does not take flight. Officers went to a motel in the 3300 block of North Chestnut at 1:45 p.m. looking for "a wanted party hiding out in a particular room," police reported. "When the officers knocked on the door they heard a rustling about and a crash. The officers went outside and found the wanted party had tried to flee the motel room by way of the window. The wanted party had fallen from the second story window to the pavement below and was not longer fleeing."
Officers arrested a male suspect and took him to a local hospital for treatment of several broken bones. He will be taken into custody for a warrant and illegal narcotics, police said.

Feb. 21 Double illegal marijuana grow busts. Officers from the Metro Vice, Narcotics, & Intelligence Division and El Paso County Sheriff's Department visited a home in the 2400 block of Sinton Road, where residents had reported shots fired in early February. Officers observed a thriving illegal marijuana grow operation on the property in the home and a converted oversize two-car garage. Police recovered 352 marijuana plants, 1,300 cloned marijuana plants and recovered 33 pounds of refined marijuana that was packaged for distribution. A side investigation led them to the 8100 block of Piute Road, in unincorporated El Paso County, where officers found a single-wide mobile home into a large marijuana grow. Officers seized 21 large marijuana plants and over 6 pounds of refined marijuana that was packaged for distribution.
Police arrested Katia Sanchez and Jose Cala Calvo, charged with felony cultivation and distribution.

Student's 'shoot up the school' threats: Police received a call that a student, 17, had allegedly said he was suicidal, homicidal and wanted to “shoot the school up” at Pikes Peak Bocces School of Excellence. A staff member told a school resource officer about the threat. When interviewed, the student reportedly admitted making the threats and claimed to be "upset," police reported. The student was served and released with a summons to appear in county court on the misdemeanor charge.
Car wash dispute leads to stabbing. Officers investigated a stabbing at a car wash in the 1300 block of South 21st Street around 2:25 p.m. A man, 27, allegedly became embroiled in an arrogant with another man, who allegedly "pulled out a box cutter and stabbed the victim in the stomach," police reported. The injure was described as not life threatening. The alleged stabber, described as a white male, in his late 20s, with "shaggy black hair," drove away from the car wash in his dark-colored Dodge pickup truck. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital for treatment in a private vehicle.
Feb. 18 Woman shot in the face. Around midnight, officers were summoned to the 500 block of Iowa Avenue to investigate a shooting. They found a woman, 49, who appeared to have a gunshot wound in the face. She was taken to a local medical center for treatment, where her injuries were determined to be not life-threatening, and her condition was listed as stable, but guarded. No suspect was found, and the investigation is ongoing.
Phone stolen by stranger with gun. Around 2:25 p..m. a man in the 600 block of South Hancock reported that a unknown man, described as a white male wearing a blue sweatshirt, had burst into his home with a gun demanding his cell phone. A friend in the house attempted to grab the gun, police reported, and during a struggle, a bullet was fired into the wall. The suspect fled, the two told police. One resident had a slight bruise on his ribs as a result of fighting over the gun, police said. The investigation continues.
