Girl Safe After Alleged Kidnapping In Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Police reported a possible abduction of a girl, 15, near Sand Creek High School Tuesday. The girl was safe with family.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Colorado Springs Police reported a possible kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl near Sand Creek High School Tuesday afternoon around noon. Few other details were available, but Springs police Spokesman Lt. Howard Black tweet that he would hold a press conference at the Stetson Hills station later today. Police reported that the girl had been released and was safe with her family.

Initially, Patch reported incorrectly that the abduction victim was male.

Police identified the vehicle the alleged kidnappers were driving as a 2014 red Ford Explorer, with Colorado License Plate No. OWW 751. The car was tracked down and the carjacker, also a minor, was taken into custody, Springs police said. It was unclear whether the victim knew the offender.

Meanwhile, the El Paso Co. Sheriff's office tweeted details of another carjacking near Falcon.

"Suspects held victim at gunpoint and stole s white Mercedes with Colorado plate QAA 114. If you see this vehicle, call 911 immediately. Suspects are armed and considered dangerous," the sheriff's office tweeted.

The two events were not necessarily related.

Later, the sheriff's office tweeted that the carjacked vehicle had been found unoccupied. The carjackers were described as "White or Hispanic males wearing masks. Armed and considered dangerous, suspects are still at large," the sheriff's office announced.
