Man With BB Rifle Traps Dozens In Colorado Springs Walmart: Cops
A man carrying what appeared to be a rifle caused panic at Colo. Springs Walmart and Chapel Hills Mall movie theater until he was arrested.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Colorado Springs police said a man carrying what appeared to be a rifle threatened people Monday at the Walmart at 8250 Razorback Road, resulting in a panic that locked dozens of people inside the store. But it was only a realistic-looking BB gun, according to a report in the Colorado Springs Gazette. The Gazette reported that the man then walked, with the rifle visible to a movie theater in the Chapel Hills Mall. When police took him into custody Monday, they discovered that the rifle was not genuine.
The man "didn't appear to be targeting anyone in particular, police said, but he did appear to be suffering a mental health problem," reported Ellie Mulder.
On the afternoon of Nov. 9, Colorado Springs station KKTV reported that police were investigating shots allegedly fired at another Springs Walmart at 3201 East Platte Avenue. Officers were unable to find a shooter or other evidence at that site, the report said.
