Man Fatally Shot At Colorado Springs Apartments IDed

Police said they had detained people suspected in the homicide of a man near Pine Creek Village.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- A man found dead from gunshot wounds at a southeast Colorado Springs apartment complex April 13 was identified by the El Paso Coroner’s Office.

Earnest Gene Ramsey, 39, of Colorado Springs died of "at least one gunshot wound" around 7:30 p.m. at the Pine Creek Village near Chapman Drive and Academy Park Loop.

Although no arrests were made, Colorado Springs Police Spokesman Lt. Howard Black told the Gazette police "were not looking for anyone outside of the folks that we already have detained,” he said. “We’re very comfortable that we have a fairly good understanding of what has occurred inside this apartment.”

Ramsey's death is the seventh homicide in Colorado Springs so far in 2018. At this time last year, the city had 11 homicides, police said.
