🌱 A Mobile Geriatric Veterinarian + Pumpkins For Kindergartners
Your five-minute guide to the most important things going down today in town.
Hello, people of Colorado Springs! Rachel Kilimnik here with today's issue of the Colorado Springs Daily.
First, today's weather:
Sunny to partly cloudy. High: 62 Low: 39.
Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today:
- Kelly Hutchison is the owner of White Whiskers Aging Pet Care, a Colorado Springs-based mobile veterinary practice serving senior dogs and cats. She started the practice in May after 10 years as a primary care vet; most recently, she had worked at Westside Animal Hospital, where she became known as "the old dog vet." By going to the pet's home, she's seeing them where they're most comfortable; going to the vet can cause anxiety and the travel can be uncomfortable for arthritic pets. Hutchison's approach to pet care is a holistic one; she is certified in canine rehabilitation therapy and veterinary medical acupuncture and is pursuing certification as a canine pain practitioner. - As of Oct. 19, Venetucci Farm will hold up generations of generosity giving pumpkins away to kindergartners all across the Pikes Peak Region. The annual event has been going on for 50 years, according to a press release from the farm, even lasting through COVID-19 lockdowns last year. This year, the farm plans to celebrate the season with a hybrid model giveaway with both school deliveries and inviting kids back to the farm to pick a pumpkin. (KRDO)
- The five county commissioners unanimously passed a proclamation against requiring people to take the COVID-19 vaccine. (KRDO)
- No students were hurt when three vehicles including a school bus crashed in northeast Colorado Springs Tuesday morning. (KKTV 11 News)
- Good beer and good stories await on the "Frights and Pints" Haunted Beer Tour with Springs Beer Tours on most Thursdays and Saturdays until Halloween. (FOX21News.com)
