Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. The Colorado Springs Fire Department extinguished multiple fires near the city's airport. The fires occurred on Platte Avenue and Wooten Drive. There is currently no indication as to how the fires were ignited. The Colorado Springs Fire Department is reminding residents that the city "remains under burn restrictions with high winds and elevated fire danger returning this week." (KRDO)
  2. The Colorado Springs City Council has approved a new natural gas rate decrease. Customers of Colorado Springs Utilities will begin seeing monthly bill reductions totaling roughly $14.54. The rates were lowered due to lower fuel prices that were caused by a mild winter. (KRDO)
  3. The Colorado Springs City Council has approved a new Colorado Springs Police Department chief. Adrian Vasquez has been chosen by the council in an 8-1 vote on Tuesday. Vasquez has been serving as interim chief since Chief Vince Niski's retirement on Mar. 4. (KKTV)
