Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. A Colorado Springs man detained a man who was attempting to rob his home. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the incident occurred in the 500 block of Gillette St. The robbery victim was able to overpower the alleged robber after getting struck in the face with a golf club. David Roe, 35, has been arrested by the department on attempted robbery charges. (KRDO)
  2. Colorado Springs' Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is inviting local schools and community groups to celebrate Endangered Species Day at the zoo. According to the zoo, the best tools to protect endangered species are education and sharing knowledge. With that mindset, the zoo is looking to educate the community on Apr. 15 through 25 interactive stations. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Colorado Springs and El Paso County have announced a plan to widen and improve Marksheffel Road. The stretch of road between North Carefree Circle and Dublin Boulevard will be improved to handle growing traffic and increased home construction. According to city officials, the engineering plans are about 90 percent complete with the widening cost between $50 million and $60 million. (KRDO)
