Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was fatally shot by members of the Colorado Springs Police Department on Mar. 7. 39-year-old James Gregory pointed a firearm at police officers while fleeing in the 400 block of North Circle Drive. The officers involved in the shooting are uninjured and have been placed on administrative leave according to department policy. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The Colorado Department of Corrections has notified the Colorado Springs community that Charles William Swift has been discharged from prison. Swift is a sexually violent predator according to the parole board. The community and police department must be notified of Swift entering into the Colorado Springs area in accordance with Colorado law. (Press Release Desk)
  3. A section of northbound Interstate 25 was closed Friday while the Colorado Springs Police Department investigated a head-on collision. One of the drivers was taken to Memorial Hospital to receive treatment of wounds sustained during the accident. Officers suspect that Angel Betancourt was driving under the influence. (KRDO)
