🌱 Student Arrested Amid Threats + Colorado Gives Day

Here are the top stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. Throughout the last week, the Colorado Springs Police Department has been working closely with Vista Ridge High School after a pattern of escalating assaultive behavior on the campus. Part of the investigation included reports of potential threats to the safety of students and staff. On Sunday, Dec. 5, CSPD officers arrested one student for the charges of Interference with School Staff as well as Juvenile in Possession of a Firearm. (FOX 21-News)
  2. Yesterday was Colorado Gives Day, a day solely focused on supporting and donating to non-profits across the state. In Colorado Springs, one of the participating non-profits in the state initiative is the National Alliance on Mental Illness Colorado Springs (NAMI). NAMI provides mental health services, free of charge, to groups, families, and individuals in the Pikes Peak region. (KRDO)
  3. On Monday, the Colorado Springs Police Department announced the arrests of two men who are accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a local park last year. (KRDO)
  4. Colorado Springs police arrested a man suspected of breaking another man's leg at Bear Creek Dog Park last week. (The Gazette)
  5. "A Nutcracker: A Holiday Tradition Re-Mixed," is coming to Colorado Springs this weekend Dec.10 to Dec.12 at the UCCS Ent Center for the Arts. The show is put on by Springs Dance and gives the holiday classic a contemporary makeover. (FOX 21-News)
