Teen Advocates For Cancer Awareness + Shooting Victim Dies

  1. While September just wrapped up Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, one Vista Ridge high schooler uses her time to advocate for it year-round. Cheyenne Dyess, a junior at Vista Ridge, once went through a battle with cancer. Now, Cheyenne wants to help others. During her treatment, she was an ambassador for St. Baldrick's Foundation and continues to raise money for them yearly. (KRDO)
  2. One person is dead following a shooting in southeast Colorado Springs on Monday morning. Officers rushed to an apartment complex in the area of Hancock Expressway and Delta on Monday morning. The victim was found gravely wounded and died on the scene. The shooting is now being investigated as a potential homicide. (KKTV 11 News)
  3. Colorado Springs Indigenous activists shine a light on cold cases involving missing Indigenous women in Colorado. (KOAA.com Colorado Springs and Pueblo News)
  4. The El Paso County Community Services Department has closed Bear Creek Dog Park for maintenance; the closure will last through October 10th. (KRDO)
  5. A Colorado Springs police officer shot and killed a shoplifting suspect on Sunday after the suspect fled from the officer and attempted to hide in a business parking lot. (FOX 31 Denver)
