Traffic Fatality In Colorado Springs At Woodmen Road, Vincent Drive
On Thursday, Aug. 29, at approximately 12:56 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a fatal crash.
From the City of Colorado Springs: On Thursday, Aug. 29, at approximately 12:56 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a Jeep versus motorcycle crash in the intersection of Woodmen Road and Vincent Drive.
Upon arrival officers located two deceased persons, an adult male and an adult female. The CSPD Major Crash Team responded and assumed responsibility for the scene.
After preliminary examination, it appears that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on I25 when it exited the off ramp onto eastbound Woodmen Road. The motorcycle, which was driving with a passenger, continued eastbound at a high rate of speed, “splitting the lanes” between vehicles as it approached Vincent Drive. The Jeep was travelling westbound on Woodmen Road, turning left onto southbound Vincent Drive when it was struck on the passenger side by the motorcycle, causing the jeep to roll and both vehicles to catch fire.

The motorcycle driver and passenger both died on scene. The driver of the Jeep was transported to a local hospital with injuries from the crash and has subsequently been treated and released. These will be the 31st and 32nd traffic related fatalities in Colorado Springs in 2019. At this time last year, there were 34 traffic fatalities in the city.
