Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:
- El Paso County is scheduled to begin maintenance work on the Hodgen Road Bridge on May 23. The project, which is expected to take six weeks, will close Hodgen Road between Winchester Road and Meridian Road North. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate travel routes, as well as reduce speeds and remain attentive in construction areas. (Press Release Desk)
- Thousands of Pikes Peak region volunteers rolled up their sleeves for the Great American Cleanup on Saturday. The efforts, which stretched from Monument to Pueblo along the Fountain Creek watershed, went a long way in cleaning up community spaces. Participating groups include a team from Navy Federal Credit Union on Mesa Ridge Parkway, City Serve COSILoveYou, and volunteers from Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8's Green Team and National Honor Society. - The Colorado Springs Police Department is searching for a suspect accused of shooting at a couple in their apartment. According to the couple, an unknown woman was banging on their front door using a pistol grip and discharged a single round into the door. The suspect then reportedly fired another round toward the couple as they looked outside the bedroom window. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CSPD. (FOX21News.com)
