Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. Get ready to pay more for your utilities in Colorado Springs; the City Council on Tuesday approved a double-digit rate increase that will last until early spring of next year. CSU is increasing residential rates for electricity by 13.5% and natural gas by 26.8%, according to statistics released to City Council. Water and wastewater are staying the same, but CSU says the total bill sent to residents will go up by about 10.9%. For commercial customers, the increase is steeper, working out to about a 22.2% increase in total bills. (KRDO)
  2. Colorado Springs Police arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting two different women in two days. Detectives executed a search warrant and arrested 28-year-old Justin Kelty. According to online records, a man with the same name and birth date is a registered sex offender in Colorado Springs. (KKTV 11 News)
  3. After a false start, firefighters have extinguished a fire in a vacant home just east of downtown Colorado Springs. A passerby saw the flames and called 911 but gave the wrong address and sent crews to Wahsatch instead of Willamette. (KKTV 11 News)
  4. The City of Manitou Springs' Manitou Arts Cultural and Heritage grants helped fund 23 successful projects in 2021, and now with 2022 on the horizon, the city is accepting applications! (FOX21News.com)
