- The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are partnering to celebrate active military, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouse entrepreneurs for Veterans Entrepreneurial Week. Veteran entrepreneurs looking to start or grow a business are invited to attend the Colorado SBDC's 14th Annual Veteran's Small Business Conference Presented by Pikes Peak National Bank on Nov. 4th, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Pinery on the Hill. Early registration is encouraged. (Press Release Desk)
- Dark money is flowing into Colorado Springs school board races this year. The most notable spending has come from Springs Opportunity Fund, a group with Republican ties, that state reports show has spent $57,770 of the $130,000 it raised on races in District 11, District 20, and District 49. The group has backed some candidates with conservative positions on hot-button issues such as critical race theory. However, conservative groups don't appear to have a monopoly on this dark money; other independent committees with progressive ties have also financially supported their preferred candidates.
