1 Killed, Another Wounded In Denver Shooting, Man In Custody

Denver police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting near Coors Field, police said.

DENVER, CO — A man was taken into custody Wednesday after two people were shot, one fatally, in downtown Denver, police said. The shooting occurred in the 2900 block of North Huron Street near Coors Field, the Denver Police Department said.

At 11:42, officers were called to the area after reports of a shooting. Roads closed in the area while officers searched for the suspect. Residents were asked to seek shelter.

A SWAT team and more than a dozen police vehicles were seen in the Ballpark neighborhood. The Denver Fire Department and paramedics were also in the area.

Police then received reports that the man was heading into the mountains. He was arrested around 1:30 p.m. near Pine Junction and Highway 285, police said.

The Regional Transportation District's A, B, and G Line service into and out of Union Station was temporarily suspended during the investigation.

A woman who was walking her dog was reportedly shot, according to multiple reports on social media; however Denver police have not confirmed the shooting.

No further details about the shooting were released.
