- Gov. Jared Polis opposes new climate targets in Democrats' bill. The bill aims to accelerate the shift to clean energy in the state by changing carbon sequestration and electricity transmission projects permitting process. It also establishes a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions goal for the first time, with five-year interim targets from 2030 to 2050. (Patch)
- Casa Bonita will hire more than 550 employees, including cliff divers. Casa Bonita plans to reopen in May and is currently seeking to fill over 550 positions. Available positions include 150 kitchen staff, 140 servers, 40 bartenders, 40 cashiers and 30 entertainers (which includes cliff divers). - Denver is working on a plan that will deal with the potential meth problems in city buildings. The City of Denver said it's taking action to address the issue of methamphetamine contamination at government properties, like the issues at other metro area libraries. In response to those positive test results, the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment is working with contracted experts in industrial hygiene to develop a formal cleaning protocol. - Frigid temps coming this weekend, how low will the temperature go? Temperatures in Colorado will continue to drop this weekend as arctic cold fronts move in, bringing freezing temperatures and snow showers to the state. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts high temperatures in Denver will be close to or below freezing for multiple days, with overnight lows dropping below zero. (9News)
- 16th Street mall pop-up store close up shop after two months of battling issues with crime. The founders of Tea with Tae, one of the first three participants in the PopUp Denver program, recently closed their downtown Denver cafe after just a few months of operation.
