Arrest Made In Connection With Denver Double Homicide

A'darion Sanford, 18, was taken into custody by Denver Police based on an investigation into the gunshot deaths of two men last month.

DENVER, CO —An 18-year-old male was arrested Tuesday in connection with a Jan. 29 double homicide in Denver, the Denver Police Department announced Wednesday.

Police said they took A'darion Sanford into custody based on an investigation into the deaths of two gunshot victims. The victims were identified by the coroner's office as 23-year-old Elijah Kelly and 19-year-old Kanajai Burton, according to 9News.

The final decision on charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney's Office, police said.

According to police, on Jan. 29, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of East Colfax Avenue and North Ogden Street. At the scene, they discovered two males —Kelly and Burton —suffering from gunshot wounds.

9News reported that Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene, while Burton died later at the hospital.

The DPD said that it is not releasing a booking photo of Sanford because it remains an ongoing investigation.
